What this looks like in real life
Four real-world examples. Each one splits hours into what you'd log yourself (free) and what RE:Writeoff auto-tracks from your inbox (billed). The total is what you'd actually pay per month.
Nora
2 rentals, hands-on landlord, logs almost everything herself
Logging time saved
<1 hr /mo
Usage bill
$0.70 /mo
Effectively free — for the 2 emails we caught that she missed.
Bharat
10 long-term rental LLCs, semi-retired, works with a CPA
Logging time saved
~12 hrs /mo
Usage bill
$12.25 /mo
Less than one hour of his CPA's time.
Sam
1 short-term rental, chasing the STR loophole
Logging time saved
~17 hrs /mo
Usage bill
$17.50 /mo
Material participation, documented automatically.
Priya
5 properties, full-time investor chasing REPS
Logging time saved
~33 hrs /mo
Usage bill
$35 /mo
Unlocks ~$25k/yr in REPS tax savings.
That's about $1.05 per hour. Talk about cost effective.
For every hour of your time we hand back, you also get an IRS-compliant, source-linked log of every one of those hours. A bookkeeper charges $25+ for the same work but can't stand up to an audit. A CPA charges $150+ to reconstruct it in April. RE:Writeoff does both — for roughly a dollar.
Usage bill above is the metered portion only. Your first paid month is always flat, so you have 30 days to see your real usage before the meter kicks in.
Common questions
How much will I actually pay?
Depends on how many hours of property activity RE:Writeoff finds in your inbox each month. A solo landlord with 1–2 rentals is typically $12–$20/mo total. A 5-property investor chasing REPS is $40–$60/mo. See the scenario cards above for real-world examples. Your 30-day free trial shows you exactly what to expect before you pay anything.
Will my first paid bill be a surprise?
No. Your first paid month is always flat — just the base price. The metered usage rate only kicks in on month two, once you've had 30 days to see what your real usage pattern looks like. Before we even start scanning your inbox, you'll see an estimate of expected hours and the resulting projected bill — you consent to it before we scan anything.
Are self-logged hours really always free?
Yes. Hours you enter yourself cost $0 on every plan, forever. The only time you pay per hour is when our AI finds and classifies one for you from email, forwards, or receipts. We only charge for the work we did.
Can I stay on Free forever?
Yes. Manual logging works indefinitely. You just won't get email scanning, AI classification, or audit-ready source-linking.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. No contracts. Your data stays accessible for 30 days after cancellation, then permanently deleted.
What's the difference between Pro and Family?
Pro is for solo investors — one user, all features. Family is for investors collaborating with spouses, business partners, adult children, or a CPA — unlimited team members, shared portfolios, and a year-end audit-log export bundled for your accountant. Family usage rates are tuned per portfolio rather than fixed, because team-managed portfolios have very different activity volumes.
